"We know the station is good... Why bother with these guys?" Having a ton of food allergies I am not in the habit of "looking for something new". When I find a place I like that doesn't make me sick... I tend to stick with them. Went to Olney looking for lunch. Station is visual distance away. "Have you EVER BEEN HERE?" I replied with a no but read over the menu outside. "Bar food should be fine." The interior has had a significant upgrade from my wife's last visit. The sign about how annoying patrons will be charged $10 dollars seems pretty tepid. Quickly seated and our server took a little while to show up. Once she appeared she was quick to the table consistently. Took our order and was never hard to find. The wings were "unpleasant". Tasted like a combination of Ketchup and Hot Sauce. Lee ate one and gave up. Burger was ordered Medium Rare. I would hate to see well. The burger looked like cafeteria food when others ordered it. Lee tried to talk me out of it. (I didn't listen as I wanted a direct comparison to Station.) Mine arrived with perfect Old Bay fries... But was burnt to a cinder. Inedible. One bite and I placed it face out, towards the server. Lee's salad "was not good." She ate it begrudgingly. But asked... "Should we go over to Station to get something to eat? I am not eating those wings." Server brought me a second drink and refilled my wife's. Can't fault her at all. Well... One bite out of a burger should be a reason to ask, "did you not like that?" Didn't bother complaining to manager. Let's face it... If you cook a burger all the way through grey when ordered as Mid-Rare... You can't cook and there is no reason to discuss anything. Will not be back as we know there is better food a few hundred feet away. Lastly... Is there some sort of senior discount? We were the only people in there under 70.
I went to Olney Grille thinking I would get a decent dinner. Boy was I wrong! I ordered the Thai ribs and the New York sandwich with Old Bay fries and asked that the sandwich be grilled well. The ribs tasted weird and were VERY soft and full of gristle. I guess they just braise them in the oven. The sandwich was NOT grilled well and was tasteless and had very little cheese and meat on it! The fries had NO Old Bay on them. I brought the sandwich home, added more cheese, some sauerkraut, and grilled it myself. That did make it better but I should have stopped at the store and bought some corned beef since there was barely any corned beef on the sandwich. Going to dinner was a waste of time and money on my part. 🙄🙄🙄
I genuinely cannot believe I paid $32 for this. What Olney Grille called a “crab cake dinner” looked more like a sad appetizer someone forgot to finish prepping. One tiny crab cake, a scoop of plain rice pilaf that tasted like it came straight from a dorm buffet, and two sad sauce containers rolling around in a plastic box like prisoners. For thirty-two dollars I expected… I don’t know… FOOD? A portion? Flavor? Maybe even the illusion of effort? Instead, I opened my DoorDash container and immediately started laughing because the alternative was crying. It looked like the chef got tired halfway through and said, “Eh, good enough.” The condensation inside the container had more personality than the meal. I’ve had more substantial crab cakes at gas stations. At least they don’t charge fine-dining prices for cafeteria-level portions. Olney Grille, if you’re going to charge steakhouse prices, you need to actually serve a meal, not a snack. This was insulting. I want my money back and honestly… an apology for whatever this was supposed to be. Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy being scammed with a side of rice. BTW IT CAME FREEZING AND UNSEALED. DO NOT ORDER.
This is a great place in Olney for a wide array of food. Not everything is great but they do have fresh fish which always seems to hit the mark. We recently came here for a quick bite. We weren’t super hungry so we shared some chicken wings and onion rings. The chicken wings here are very good, I highly recommend them, especially the old bay dry rub! My daughter got the plain pasta and I got a salad with Blue Cheese dressing. The dressing was a bit disappointing, didn’t have much of a taste so I got some of their peppercorn ranch which was much better. The restaurant is clean and the staff is very nice, overall a good spot if you are not quite sure what you want to eat.
Great sport to eat in the heart of Olney. Goof food and drinks paired with good service. Can get pretty crowded sometimes, but it is a great place to eat with a larger-sized group of people. Food was tasty and it was a good vibe inside of the restaurant. Definitely reccommend stopping in if you havent already.
