OUR STORY
First opened in 1960 by Tommy Bellison and Ray Luhn, Tom & Ray’s Family Restaurant has been a Damascus staple. We are proud to continue their legacy of service to guests and the community.
We believe that there is no higher calling than service and that there is no finer community than Damascus, Maryland. Our Damascus roots run deep and we understand that people want a sense of place and have a desire for a simpler time.

Ordered a chocolate chip waffle and some chicken tenders. The waffle doesn't have chocolate chips in it, and the chicken is burnt/not breaded fully. I called and the girl said allergens is why they can't put chocolate chips in the waffle, yet they have a shared dessert case with all the desserts together, including keeping gluten free and full gluten items together. And her excuse was "the gluten free one isn't touching the others". Which isn't how allergens work. The chicken also tastes weird. Almost like no seasoning, but cornflakes. And it tastes more burnt than it looks. Maybe old oil?
Everything is so fresh and PERFECTLY cooked! The staff are friendly and happy to be there. I wish I lived next door to this place. I'd never cook again. They went above and beyond our expectations. I highly recommend the chicken and waffles! Everything was amazing, but that dish was my family's favorite! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 We were so pleased, we asked to meet the cook, Claudia, for whom we gave a standing ovation.
Hadn’t been in a while and probably won’t be back again. We were seated quickly . We ordered the kids their food. No one came back to take my order for an unusually long time. Finally brought the kids food . My ordered was placed and noticed cook got ready quickly but food sat on the counter very long time . One of the workers was eating French fries next to my meal and the other worker sat on her phone the whole time . After over 10 minutes the worker realized to get my meal and bring to table . Still not once did anyone come check on us for drink refills or to see if we needed anything . The female worker was too worried about being iron her cell phone . Took a very long time to get a check as well. The restaurant only had 5 others inside . Food was great but Extremely disappointed in the quality of service which really affected our experience .Please do better and do something about the cell phones .
Huge after church crowd when we got there on a Sunday. I ordered fried chicken livers. With vegetables. I loved it! Never see that anywhere. Staff was nice. Very friendly. A bit of a wait for service. Family friendly. I'd definitely go back.
Great fried chicken 🍗 stewed tomatoes 🍅 mac & cheese. Breakfast 🥞 nice as well. Gluten free options.
